Ministry:
Rahamim administers a 4.7ha property, known as St Joseph’s Mount. The property includes a heritage house, Logan Brae, built in 1878 on a granite hill, that slopes away gently to the east, south and north. Situated on traditional Wiradjuri land, it has been the home of the Sisters of Mercy since 1909.
In the house, Rahamim offers educational opportunities such as workshops, seminars and retreats, conducted by local people and visiting speakers. Live-in accommodation is available. The Conference facilities can be hired by other groups for meetings and events.
In the grounds Rahamim is developing a demonstration site for permaculture, community gardens, habitat and eco-friendly water, wind and solar technologies. The house for the chook community features a pitched roof and a stained glass window, hence the reference “Chook Chapel”. There are also established trees and flower beds and native vegetation areas. A Cosmic Walk is in the planning stage.
Rahamim’s volunteers are drawn from all walks of life and bring a variety of gifts and skills to the community.
At Rahamim people can share information and insights, meet experts and get involved in practical projects, observe environmentally friendly technologies, participate in workshops and community gardens, stop and smell the flowers and take the time to appreciate a feathered friend or a frog.
