Refugees
Rahamim supports the Bathurst Refugee Support Group (BRSG), which exists to assist refugees to settle into the Bathurst area; to raise awareness of refugee issues in the local community and to lend practical day-to-day support to visiting refugees. Rahamim works in close collaboration with Mercy Works Inc, NSW Ecumenical Council House of Welcome, the Asylum seekers Centre in Sydney and STARRTS.
Chaldean Women's Rahamim Retreat
A group of Iraqui Chaldean Women enjoyed a weekend retreat from the city at Rahamim, sponsored by the Bathurst Refugee Support Group. On Friday night Bathurst's two Bishops, Bishop Richard Hurford (Anglican) and Bishop Michael McKenna (Catholic), both Patrons of the BRSG, joined the women for the evening meal.

Iraqi Youth Leadership Camp @ Rahamim
A group of Iraqi young adults of refugee bacground participated in a Youth Leadership Camp at Rahamim.

A year ago the Young Women's Project Worker at Services for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Treatment - STARRTS secured funding ro run an Iraqi youth wellbeing and leadership Project to facilitate healing of war trauma, improve access to eduacational opportunities and encourage pursuits of higher education.

Bathurst Refugee Group supported by Rahamim, is delighted to suppor the STARTTS program as it brings into our Bathurst community the richness of multicultualism, rather than the xenophobic racism so uch presented to our Australian community these days.

The program included creative therapies such as Art, Dance, and Photography, young women'd camp and orientation of TAFE courses.
The Youth Leadership Camp is the last stage of the program where potential youth leaders are trained to mentor and support other refugees to resettle in the wider Australian community. The Leadership program sosters mutual understanding, respect and civic engagment amonth young Iraqis and their wider peers. The Leadership Camp is for 3 days and involves youth aged 17-20 years old.
During the Leadership Camp, young people and deucators participatein workshops, community service activities, team building exercises, meeing with community leaders, leadership development, and focus on a specific theme, such as conflict resolution and project managment.
