Logan Brae House is surrounded by 4.7 hectares of gardens that have been dedicated to permaculture principles. This includes a community garden, a food forest, poly houses, water habitats and a chicken forage system.
The Rahamim Community Garden is open to anyone who wishes to be a part of this community. There are a number of plots for individual hire, and there are a number of communal plots. You can join the Community Garden as either a communal member or an individual member (when plots are available.)
The Gardeners usually have a gathering on the second saturday of the month to share ideas, work on communal plots and enjoy each other's company.
Aquaponics is essentially the combination of Aquaculture and Hydroponics. It is system of aquaculture in which the waste produced by farmed fish or other aquatic creatures supplies the nutrients for plants grown hydroponically, which in turn purify the water. Rahamim Ecology Centre's aquaponics system has been designed with training and education in mind.
Rahamim Ecology Centre's chickens live in luxury! They are housed in 5-star comfort with chicken forage yards, based on an eight-bed rotation system. Eggs are used in all of our in-house catering and you can taste the difference!
Rahamim Ecology Centre's grounds contain many important heritage trees - elm, oak, himalayan pine and cork trees. These trees were planted over the 100 plus year history of the Logan Brae House and are situated in the surrounding acreage.
