Sally Neaves, Rahamim’s Eco-Education Coordinator had the opportunity to work with the Seeds of Justice group, a team of educators representing a number of Mercy schools, who gathered at the Mercy Hub in North Carlton.
The morning included Mercy in the new context of the universe story, our interconnectedness in the Earth community, Earth’s distress, the Catherine McAuley Story, the ISMAPNG Chapter Statement, sustainability policy and the call of Pope Francis in Laudato Si’.
Participants had a chance to share their projects and future dreams in this area for their own schools, including the opportunity to take up new curriculum in this area.
The afternoon session included a presentation from Sr Adele Howard who has recently returned from a Laudato Si’ conference in Rome, where she met Pope Francis and other senior Church officials. She described the urgent and passionate response of delegates, all facing the reality of Earth’s unravelling with active hope.
An amazing day was had by all.
