Dahl is a flavourful, rich and nutritious dish great for the cooler months and one of Rahamim’s much-loved staples.

  • ½ Tbsp olive oil

  • 2 Tbsp butter or ghee

  • 2 Tsp garamasala

  • 1 Tsp ground coriander

  • 1 Tsp dried vegetable stock

  • 1 Brown onion, diced

  • 3 Tomatoes, diced

  • 1 Cup dried red lentils

  • 2 Cups water

1. Melt butter/ghee and oil in medium size saucepan. Add spices. Gently fry until fragrant. (This will deepen their flavours)

2. Add onion, cook on low heat until soft. Add tomatoes, sauté for approx. 10min.

3. Stir in lentils and water. Heat until just boiling. Drop temperature and cook covered, stirring frequently on low heat for 1 hr or until a desired consistency is reached. More water may need to be added as cooking.
