This recipe isn’t edible!

It is however delicious on your clothes and a brilliant earth friendly alternative to the everyday nasties found in commercial laundry products.

This recipe makes a huge 25 litres and using 1 tablespoon per load adds up to approximately 1675 loads of laundry costing around 3 cents per load.

I recommend sourcing or buying a 25-litre bucket with a lid to make and store your liquid in.

This recipe is suitable for both front and top loaders.

1 box of Lux flakes (700 grams of grated soap)

1 cup of bicarbonate of soda (baking soda)

A couple of drops of eucalyptus or tea tree oil

Boiling water

1.     Place the soap flakes, bicarb and essential oils into the bucket.

2.     Add 2 litres of boiling water. Using a stick blender, blend the mix really well and let stand overnight. The mixture should go thick and gluggy.

3.     The next day the mixture will be thicker. Add another 2 litres of boiling water, blend and sit overnight.

4.     Continue adding 2 litres of boiling water and blending each day till bucket is full.
